The Promise of Inclusion .... Futures Alliance December 6, 2013 Forum

The Promise of Inclusion...... How can the current social policy reforms in Disability and Ageing get us there?

Implicit in the rollout of the NDIS as well as current Aged Care reforms is the promise of better outcomes for people with disability who are ageing.  Hear about the current policy landscape and the latest research, and join us in conversation to help shape the future for people with disability who are ageing.

Key note speakers include:

  • Emeritus Prof Trevor Parmenter will present on the topic of "Ageing Policies and Practices" do people with disabilities fit in?  Lessons learned from research in both the general and disability ageing sectors will b examined and suggestions for cross sectorial collaboration in policy and practices will be proposed.
  • Paul Sadler will present on the topif of Aged Care Reforms - where to now. Major reforms to aged care were legislated in the last days of the Labor Govt. What is happening now the Abbott Coalition Govt is in power and what will the changes mean for people ageing with lifelong disabilities, other older people and their carers?
  • Christine Regan will present on the topic of 'NDIS .... in the NSW context'
